Department of Art and Design

When someone hands you a brochure, what makes you open it? Does the image engage your attention? Is the text easy to read? If you pay attention to these details, consider a major in graphic design!

Graphic designers use layout, design, photography, font, text spacing, and other techniques to create appealing brochures, flyers, magazines, Web sites, banners, posters, and other projects. As a graphic design major, you'll develop your creativity, flexibility, and organization while learning to put your clients' needs first.

PLNU offers a major in graphic design through the Department of Art and Design. If you choose to major in graphic design, you can concentrate in art and design, editorial design, or advertising. In all three concentrations, you will create a portfolio and learn about art, typography, and production practices. You will also gain the computer and technical skills you will need in this field.
