Interior Design

Department of Family and Consumer Sciences

You have a unique style you love to put on display. When you walk into a room, the first thing you notice is how you could make improvements to the existing design. You see space as a blank canvas, waiting for an artist’s touch. You're also the perfect interior design candidate.

PLNU offers a concentration in housing and interior environments (also known as interior design or interior decorating) in the consumer and environmental sciences major. The lower division requirements include multiple courses in the fundamentals of art, interior design, accounting, economics, and computers, in addition to departmental courses including human development and family housing.

Upper division requirements supplement several business courses with the Family and Consumer Sciences classes. You'll learn principles of management, marketing and advertising and promotion. Additional art courses are also recommended. These courses prepare you to identify problems in design and concepts and offer creative, functional solutions.
