Background

David A. Adey graduated from PLNU in 1994 with a B.A. in Visual Art. Beginning his career in graphic design, specializing in package design and illustration, he worked for companies in New York and New Jersey, and then returned to San Diego where he joined the branding agency Mires+Ball Inc. He has worked for clients such as Intel, Pepsi, Nike, Qualcomm, Taylor Guitars, Hasbro, Sega, Cobra Golf,  and Universal Studios and many others. His graphic design and illustration have won many awards and have been featured in numerous books and magazines such as Communication Arts and Graphis.  

In 2002, David received his M.F.A. in sculpture from Cranbrook Academy of Art in Michigan. His work was exhibited in the 2010 California Biennial at the Orange County Museum of Art, the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego, The Athenaeum Music and Arts Library in La Jolla, Torrance Art Museum, and the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, as well as numerous other exhibitions in San Diego, La Jolla, Los Angeles, Detroit, Boston and Miami. His work has been reviewed and featured in publications including Art in America, Art Ltd., Riviera Magazine, The San Diego Union Tribune and Wired.com. He is the recipient of the 2010 San Diego Art Prize by the San Diego Visual Arts Network, 2010 Exhibition of the Year from the San Diego Fine Art Society, and his solo exhibition "John Henry" at Luis De Jesus Los Angeles was included in the top 10 Exhibitions for 2010 by The Huffington Post. He teaches sculpture, 3D design, illustration, graphic design and contemporary art seminar. He is represented by Scott White Contemporary Art in La Jolla, CA and Luis De Jesus Los Angeles in Culver City, CA.
