As a painter, printmaker, and sculptor Neil Shigley concerns himself with the abstraction of form, in many cases the human figure.  His work has been shown internationally. His work was shown in the National Portrait Gallery in 2012 and he was commissioned by the City of San Diego to create a public outdoor art mural for Martin Luther King.  His one man show of his woodcut prints at the Earle and Birdie Library Gallery in Pacific Beach was the focus of the television interview series for City TV entitled “San Diego Profiles”.   He has two large scale sculptures in Las Vegas and San Diego.

Along with his painting, printmaking and commercial work Neil also teaches drawing and illustration at San Diego State University and figure drawing at the Art Academy of San Diego.

At PLNU, Neil teaches Illustration II.
