What are you studying at Point Loma?
Biology B.A.; With a Bachelors of arts I have space in upper-division coursework to pursue courses outside of the sciences. I have chosen an international emphasis: Spanish and French language courses, international politics, medical sociology and business management.
Where did you grow up?
I grew up in a suburb of our capitol city: Elk Grove, California.
What countries have you visited?
México, Spain, Portugal, Morocco, France and Italy.
What is you favorite place you've visited in the world?
However cliché, I enjoyed my time in Paris so much! France surprised me; I almost immediately felt comforted by the familiar suburban housing subdivisions and welcomed by the Parisians. And like so many before me, I was taken by the city’s sophistication and enchanted feel.
What is the next place you would like to visit in the world?
The list is long. Top three regions are Southeast Asia, South America and Eastern Europe.
If you could live in any other city in the world, what would it be and why?
Stockholm, Sweden. It is a bustling city with hardworking citizens, a focused care for its people and the environment. And who wouldn’t mind riding into work each day on a snazzy bike?!
What languages do you speak/are learning?
I grew up speaking English with significant exposure to Spanish. Currently I’m working on advancing my Spanish, beginning French and I’m planning to teach English in Malaysia, so I’m beginning to learn Bahasa Melayu.
What advice do you have for study abroad students?
Anything is possible with dedicated labor! I problem-solved until I could become a science major abroad, and the journey I walked has altered my career trajectory immensely. Keep at it and don’t be afraid of jumping into the unknown.
