Beacon of Light

Shares the love of Christ through feeding the hungry in downtown San Diego on Friday nights.

Beacon of Light meets every Friday night to head downtown and passes out meals that we make earlier that afternoon. The focus, however, is not usually on the food we give but on the friends we meet and the relationships we build. Once we're downtown, some people go "up" the street where we encounter many familiar faces each week. Others head "down" where there are many more people to meet (and is seen as a bit more of a rougher area). Through the interactions we have, we hope to be able to demonstrate God's love to people who are too often passed by. Our desire is to truly be Jesus' hands and feet to our own community. The relationships we build allow us to interact with these people, creating invaluable friendships.
