Background

G. James Daichendt, Ed.D. is an art critic and art historian that serves as Dean of the Arts and Humanities and Professor of Art at Point Loma Nazarene University. An active writer, curator and lecturer, he was recently featured in a TEDx talk entitled The Streets as Canvas and organized the exhibit OUTSIDEIN: The Ascendance of Street Art in Visual Culture at Art Center College of Design in Pasadena.

Jim is a graduate of Columbia University, Harvard University, and Boston University and is the author of multiple books including: Shepard Fairey Inc. Artist/Professional/Vandal (2014), Stay Up! Los Angeles Street Art (2012), Artist Scholar: Reflections on Writing and Research (2011), and Artist-Teacher: A Philosophy for Creating and Teaching (2010). He is currently writing the official biography of artist Kenny Scharf. 

Dr. Daichendt is also the Chief Editor and founder of the academic journal: Visual Inquiry: Learning and Teaching Art and is an art critic for KCET, the nation's largest independent public television station. Prior to PLNU, he served as a professor of art at Azusa Pacific University and Queens College, City University of New York.
