Accreditation and State Authorization
Point Loma Nazarene University is numbered among those institutions of higher education that meet or exceed the rigorous standards of accrediting associations and commissions. Point Loma Nazarene University is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WSCUC), for which it periodically completes a self-study that addresses recognized standards and principles of excellence.

State authorization is a formal determination by a state that Point Loma Nazarene University (PLNU) is allowed to conduct certain activities in that state. PLNU is not required the have state authorization in every state, and the University has opted at this time to not seek authorization in some states. Also, PLNU meets the criteria for an exemption from state authorization in certain states. See the lists below.

At this time, PLNU does not have authorization in Alabama, Arkansas, Connecticut, Delaware, District of Columbia, Georgia, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, North Dakota, Oregon, Rhode Island, and Wisconsin, which means residents of these states cannot enroll in any PLNU online program or course. This may change over time, so PLNU recommends that individuals contact PLNU Admissions at 1-800-733-7770 for the latest information.
