40 Days for Katwatwa Fundraiser

Tuesday, July 10, 2012

PLNU students spent the 40 days of Lent working on a special goal: raising funds for a much-needed school in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). The Spiritual Development-led program was called 40 Days for Katwatwa. After many years of LoveWorks teams visiting the DRC and working closely with Pastor Celestin Chishibanji, the opportunity arose to help finalize his school-building project in Katwatwa. The Church of the Nazarene had already purchased the land, fabricated the bricks, and was ready to provide the labor to build the school. PLNU students set a goal of raising $8,000 to provide the iron sheets and cement needed to finish the project. In the end, $15,330.11 was raised, making it possible to provide the new school with furniture and school supplies as well.
