On May 12, nine PLNU graphic design students participated in the 15th annual AIGA San Diego Annual Portfolio Review and stood out.

Out of the 56 students from graphic design programs such as San Diego State University, San Diego City College, and The Art Institute of California – San Diego, PLNU students represented three of the 11 total awards handed out. Libby Spangler took first place overall as well as the best branding category, and Kristina Micotti won the best illustration category. Sixty respected local design professionals judged the student portfolios.

In April, PLNU held its own portfolio review on campus, where PLNU graphic design students displayed their work for public viewing and then participated in one-on-one reviews with a selection of distinguished design professionals in San Diego, including Scott Mires, partner and creative director of MiresBall; Tyler Blik of Blik Design (who hired a PLNU student at the review); and Bobby Buchannan of Buchannan Design.
