PLNU Celebrates Homecoming Week, Nov. 15-20

For PLNU alumni and students, fall is a time of celebration and gathering as a community during Homecoming Week, Nov. 15-20, 2010.

This year, PLNU kicked off homecoming week with guest speaker, Rev. Dr. John Polkinghorne, who left a successful career as a physicist at Cambridge University to become an Anglican priest. He writes books and speaks about the intersections between faith and science and was invited to PLNU as a part of the annual Wiley Lecture Series.

Point Loma Theatre Opera (PLOT), a student-led club with a passion for opera, kicked off their much-anticipated opera production, Cendrillon by Massenet.

On Fri., PLNU will present Alumnus of Point Loma Awards to graduates Bryan Jennings, Kathryn Vaughn, J.D., Michael McConnell, Ph.D., and Bob Sutton, Ph.D.

Also on Fri., PLNU will hold the annual variety show, which features comedic routines, musical performances, and people with unique talents and names PLNU’s homecoming court.

On Sat., PLNU alums and students will perform the last show of Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing.

PLNU’s women’s basketball team will face Trevecca Nazarene University at 6 p.m. on Nov. 20, and the men’s basketball team will face Black Hills State, South Dakota at 8 p.m.

With a wide range of lectures, class reunions, music and theatre productions, and sports games, homecoming week is sure to please everyone with a connection to PLNU.
