PLNU Professor Will Judge Christian Film Festival

Monday, October 18, 2010

(San Diego, Calif. – Oct. 18, 2010) – Dr. Alan Hueth, PLNU professor of communication, is one of four invited jurors for the first San Diego Christian Film Festival, which will be held Dec. 27-30, 2010, at the Performing Arts Plaza at San Diego State University.

“About a year ago, a few of us from a handful of churches decided that there was every sort of film festival in San Diego County except for a Christian one,” said Anita Palmer, executive partner of the San Diego Christian Film Festival. “Given the power and prevalence of the visual media in our culture – and its negative slant – we thought it would be good to encourage new or emerging Christian filmmakers, create a setting where Christian film industry professionals and film-goers could interact, and help educate and encourage the film-going public to demand good movies.”

The festival has received about 150 entries from all over the world, culled the best and sent them to Hueth and his three fellow jurors: Karen Covell, a producer of TV specials, documentaries and children's programming, and the director of the Hollywood Prayer Network; Dallas Jenkins, filmmaker and son of writer Jerry Jenkins, whose latest feature, "What If…," just released; and Susan Wales, a producer, speaker, published author and executive director of the annual MOVIEGUIDE® Awards.

The winners will be announced at the SDCFF Awards Gala Dec. 30. The keynote speaker will be Mark Clayman, executive producer of "The Pursuit of Happyness."
