Reaser Speaks at Conference at the Zurich Zoo
Date:Saturday, September 1, 2012
Dr. Lynn Reaser, PLNU chief economist, traveled to Europe in September to speak at the Financial Markets and Biomimicry Conference at the Zurich Zoo. She then traveled to Liechtenstein and met with the Liechtenstein Bankers Association, for which she recently wrote an article on biomimicry and the DaVinci Index. A groundbreaking database of biomimcryrelated scholarly articles, patents, and number and dollar values of grants, the DaVinci Index was created by the Biomimicry BRIDGE, a collaborative team that includes PLNU, San Diego Zoo Global, CONNECT, the City of San Diego’s clean tech program, and other regional leading universities.
Reaser also met with representatives of the University of Liechtenstein, business groups, foundations, the head of the Office for National Economy, and the prime minister’s office. Additionally, she spent a few days in Catalonia to meet with government and university directors regarding her work in biomimicry as well as her expertise in economics.
Reaser’s final week was spent traveling with a delegation from the National Association for Business Economics (NABE) with visits to Madrid, Frankfurt, Stockholm, and Brussels. The group exchanged views and gained insights from many economists and officials, including representatives from the Bank of Spain, the European Central Bank (ECB), the Bundesbank, the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), and the European Economic Commission (EEC). She also spoke at a major international conference sponsored by Swedbank.
