Keith Pedersen, D.M.A.

Dr. Keith Pedersen is professor of music at Point Loma Nazarene University where he directs the Point Loma Singers chamber choir, the Choral Union masterworks choir and orchestra, and teaches choral music education and general education classes. A summa cum laude graduate of Northwest Nazarene University with majors in voice, music theory, and music education, he has taught and directed at different levels over five decades, including children, middle school, high school, university, community, and church ensembles. He has directed choirs on numerous international tours, singing in Nazarene churches and the great cathedrals of Europe. 

Pedersen has been an active adjudicator in numerous festivals at the local and state levels, directed several district and regional honor choirs in California, and co-directed a summer high school choir for over a decade. An active member of the California Choral Conductors’ Association and California Music Educators Association, he has made presentations at several state and district conferences. He has conducted over 100 concerts of choral masterworks with choir and orchestra, and he is also an active choral musician, singing in various professional choirs and with the San Diego Symphony. 

Pedersen has also been an active church musician, directing choirs in several different Christian denominations over his career. He is the Director of Choral Ministries at La Jolla Presbyterian Church where he directs the Chancel Choir, oversees childrens choirs,  regularly conducts brass ensembles and orchestras, and has led the choir in four foreign tours.
