Professor Colton began his military career as a Hospital Corpsman in the United States Navy before earning his commission as a Physician Assistant. He completed his Physician Assistant training through the Interservice Physician Assistant Program and subsequently completed an Emergency Medicine Physician Assistant Fellowship at Naval Medical Center San Diego in 2014. During his 20 year Navy career, he served in numerous operational, clinical, and leadership roles, including Shock Trauma Platoon, Department Head of the Independent Duty Corpsman School, and Director of the Navy Emergency Medicine Physician Assistant Fellowship. Professor Colton has practiced in emergency medicine, urgent care, and sports medicine throughout his career and now serves as an Associate Professor in the Physician Assistant Program at Point Loma Nazarene University. He enjoys teaching emergency and trauma medicine, clinical decision making, and the integration of point of care ultrasound into clinical practice. In his free time, Professor Colton enjoys hiking, fishing, traveling, reading, training in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and spending time with his wife and son. He is honored to join the PLNU PA Program and looks forward to helping educate the next generation of physician assistants.
