Melchor Carrillo, M.A.

Associate Professor of Music

Melchor Carrillo is an associate professor of music at Point Loma Nazarene University where he conducts the University Concert Choir and teaches courses in music education. Prior to his appointment at PLNU, he served for 20 years as the choral director at Redwood High School. Choirs under his direction have performed at the 2026 California All-State Music Educators Conference, the 2017 California American Choral Directors Association State Conference, and the 2016 American Choral Directors Association Western Division Conference.

He has served as co-chairperson for both the ACDA National High School Honor Choir and the California ACDA regional and state honor choirs, and as a site host for CMEA choral festivals. He also serves as an adjudicator, clinician, and guest conductor for choral festivals and honor choirs throughout California.

He holds degrees from Anderson University (B.A. in Music Education) and California State University, Fresno (M.A. in Choral Conducting). Mr. Carrillo and his wife Kimberly are the proud parents of three children.
