This standalone anatomy course (4 credits) will help you understand the structural organization of the human body from the cellular level to organ system level. This class is fully online and self-paced so you can learn on your own schedule!

This will cover gross and microscopic anatomy of the integumentary, skeletal, muscular, nervous, sensory, endocrine, cardiovascular, lymphatic, respiratory, digestive, excretory, and reproductive systems of the human body. This course is perfect for covering your anatomy prerequisite for a variety of academic and professional programs.

How is the course delivered?

The course is delivered fully online, asynchronously and self-paced with the opportunity to meet with instructors via Zoom. Students use cutting-edge technology to complete their virtual labs and learn about the human body using the Visible Body-Courseware platform.

Dr. Joy Balta

This course is taught by Dr. Joy Balta who is the Director of the Anatomy Learning Institute. Dr. Balta completed his doctorate in anatomy and has been teaching in different medical schools nationally and internationally and most recently at The Ohio State University. Dr. Balta currently teaches in the physician assistant and occupational therapy programs here at PLNU and in the Doctor of Medicine program at UCSD.

Registration closes on the first day that Quad 2 starts each semester. If a course no longer appears on the list, it means the course is full.

Important Dates

When can I register for the course?

Registration is open from the start of the Semester through approx. 7 weeks from the end of term.

End of Term: Fall (mid-December), Spring (early May), Summer (end of August)

When will I get access to the course?

Course access begins at the start of the Semester. For specific dates/deadlines, please refer to the registration page.

Canvas access begins 2-3 days after your registration is processed.

When is the course deadline?

All coursework must be completed by the last day of the Semester.

When will I receive my grades?

Grades appear on your transcript at the end of the semester, or when your instructor submits the grade. If you need your transcript early, please communicate this with your course instructor.

Self-Pacing & Registration

Is the course self-paced?

Yes! The course is fully self-paced, with no fixed assignment deadlines. You can move through the material on your own schedule.

Can I register after the course has started?

Yes. Registration remains open after the start of the Semester; however, the later you register, the less
time you will have to complete the course before the final deadline.

Why does registration close halfway through the term?

We want every student to have enough time to succeed. Registration closes to ensure all students have at
least 7 weeks to complete the course.

What are the benefits of registering early?

Registering before the course opens gives you the maximum amount of time to complete your coursework and the most flexibility in pacing your learning.

Early registration allows for a potential refund if your plans change before the course begins.

Refund Policy

What is the refund policy?

Refunds are available only before the start of the Semester (before course access begins).

Once the course opens, no refunds will be issued, regardless of when you registered.
