Applied Mathematics, B.S.

Program Overview

Solve problems and apply mathematical skills to science. The Bachelor of Science in Applied Mathematics is the perfect major for detail-oriented people who gravitate toward data analysis, pattern finding, creative problem solving, and science.

This program is ideal for people who wish to apply mathematics to the bench sciences. Applied mathematics students choose a specialization in one of the following areas:

  • Biology: Genetics
  • Biology: Environmental Sciences
  • Chemistry
  • Physics

Although this program’s focus is mathematics and modeling,  the program also builds valuable skills in computing, statistics, data analysis, and more. With an Applied Mathematics B.S., you’ll be prepared for a career in drug discovery, clean energy, defense, and other fields that combine mathematics and science.

The Department of Mathematical, Information, and Computer Sciences (MICS) is committed to working with you holistically to help you discover who you are called to be. As an applied mathematics major at PLNU, you will be immersed in a curriculum that not only allows you to gain the broad knowledge of your discipline, but also aims to help you develop the characteristics necessary to make a positive impact on your community.
