Database administrators utilize specialized software to stock and organize data (ex: financial information and customer shipping records). Through their database systems, they make sure the information is accessible to selected users within the business, while also being safe from unauthorized access. Additionally, some database administrators oversee the creation of new databases. They must keenly design the inner workings and facets of the database based on the needs of who will be using it.

Database Architecture

Database architects design, build, and maintain complex data systems that store, organize, and secure large volumes of information. They develop models and structures to ensure databases are efficient, scalable, and meet user needs, often working closely with developers, analysts, and IT teams. This role requires strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and proficiency in database languages and systems. It’s ideal for those who enjoy solving problems, optimizing performance, and managing data infrastructure.

• Ability to assess complex data requirements and design efficient database structures accordingly
• Strong command and familiarity with database management systems

Software Developer and Software Quality Assurance Analyst

Software developers design and create computer applications or programs. Software developers also determine other requirements, such as security. They design the program and then work closely with programmers who write computer code. However, some developers write code themselves instead of giving instructions to programmers. Software quality assurance analysts and testers identify problems with applications or programs and report the defects.

Information Security Analyst

Their responsibilities are continually expanding as cyberattacks increase and become more complex. IT security analysts are heavily involved with their organization’s disaster recovery plan, which includes preventive measures such as regularly copying and transferring data to an offsite location.

• Attention to detail with monitoring their organization’s networks for security breaches
