The "We Really Do Need Each Other" Fund for Student Scholarships

Dr. Reuben Welch famously taught us that "holiness is not a solo flight." He believed that the Christian life is found in the "common life"—the messy, beautiful, and essential reality that we belong to one another in Christ. In honor of Reuben’s decades of ministry at Point Loma Nazarene University, this fund has been established to support the students of the Welch School of Theology & Christian Ministry (WSTCM) as they prepare to lead communities of grace.

The "We Really Do Need Each Other" Fund ensures that the next generation of faith leaders at Point Loma Nazarene University can answer their calling without the weight of financial burden. Honoring the legacy of beloved chaplain, professor, and pastor Reuben Welch, this fund's primary mission is to support students within the Welch School of Theology & Christian Ministry (WSTCM) as they prepare for a lifetime of service and impact. By providing life-changing scholarships and developmental opportunities, the fund ensures that financial barriers never stand in the way of those called to lead within our churches, nonprofits, and communities.

By giving today, you are investing directly in the formation of future pastors, scholars, and advocates and empowering them to turn their calling into meaningful action. Your gift celebrates the truth that we are simply people who really do need God and each other. Together, we can clear the path for these emerging leaders to graduate ready to serve, ensuring our future is shaped by those who truly understand the strength found in connection and community.
