Nursing Alumni Association of Point Loma

What is it?

The Nursing Alumni Association of Point Loma (NAAPL) exists for two important purposes:

  1. To enhance communication and professionalism among graduates of PLNU's BSN program; and
  2. To provide opportunities to enable nursing graduates to be compassionate, ethical, and motivated professionals through alumni and faculty support.

Additionally, NAAPL provides annual scholarships for senior nursing students and provides guest speakers whenever possible to enhance the educational experience at PLNU.

NAAPL endows the PLNU Ryan Library with a Virginia Henderson Sigma Theta Tau Library Link (in honor of Dr. Margaret Stevenson upon her retirement in 1999).  This link allows students to access vital nursing literature for research papers and improvement of nursing practice.

Who is it?

NAAPL is made up of ALL nursing graduates of this BSN program since its 1974 beginnings at Pasadena College.  In 1973, the college moved from Pasadena to the historic Point Loma campus and in 1998 changed its name to Point Loma Nazarene University.

What does NAAPL have to do with me?

If you are a student, NAAPL members are living proof that nursing education can make a huge contribution to your future.  Many of our alumni are ready and willing to act as mentors to you.

If you are a prospective student, NAAPL members can tell you what it is like to be a professional nurse today.  You can contact the NAAPL Board and ask questions about various nursing specialties.

If you are a faculty member, many of our PLNU graduates are more than willing to act as guest speakers in your class.  We have over 1200 graduates all over the world in every specialty in nursing.

If you are a graduate of the PLNU School of Nursing, we need your voice and your contributions for service on the NAAPL Board to guarantee a well-rounded voice in today's issues and how they apply to our organization.  Please contact current board members for further information.  Each of us is needed to make a difference in Christian nursing service.

Please Note: We would like to keep our nursing alumni list up to date.  Mail or e-mail your address, phone number, e-mail and information updates to the School of Nursing.

...and while you are visiting, check out the PLNU Alumni Association page where you can stay informed and in touch with all the news and events of the entire PLNU community.

Thank you!
