Admission Information

Application available: December 1, 2016
Application deadline: February 1, 2017  (Transfer students must have all prerequisite courses and Microbiology completed at the time of application to the BSN program.)
Admission date: Students are admitted to nursing and pre-nursing annually in the fall only.  We do not admit nursing students in the spring semester.
Tuition: 12-17 units $32,900/year (2016/2017 academic year)
Nursing Program Fee: A fee will be assessed yearly to Sophomore, Junior and Senior level nursing students.
Room and board: Shared room, mid-priced meal plan $9,950/year (2016-2017 academic year)                                                                           
Scholarships/Financial aid: Information available through Student Financial Services      

Academic Information                                                                                                                                

Class and clinical: Days; some evenings
Average number of clinical hours per week: 8 to 16 (usually Tuesday & Thursday)
Units to complete the program: 128 semester units
Number of faculty: Full-time - 13; Part-time - 19
Time needed to complete program: 3 year BSN program.  All prerequisites must be completed prior to admission to the program.

Special Features

  • Public Health Nurse (PHN): PHN certification is available upon completion of degree and RN licensure.
  • International Nursing: Off campus, cross-cultural experiences for juniors/seniors are available. Options depend on faculty resources.
  • Health Promotion Center: Nursing students gain hands on experience while helping others at PLNU's free clinic located in Mid-City San Diego.
