Dr. Matthew Boyne joined the Fermanian School as an adjunct teaching operations management and statistics in January of 2009 as an Adjunct Professor. He had previously taught operations and strategy at Norwich University, along with the Air Command and Staff College. He served as a Naval Aviator flying F/A-18 Hornets and flew for United Airlines as a Boeing 757 pilot.  During his Naval service, he led multiple global combat deployments for squadrons managing logistics, aircraft, and communication systems.

Dr. Michael Wiese joined PLNU in 2017 as a professor of marketing, teaching in the undergraduate and graduate business programs. Mike earned a Ph.D. from Loyola University of Chicago. He is very active in marketing consulting projects, serving multiple organizations across the United States. The focus of his work is on marketing research and marketing strategy, primarily for church-related organizations. His career includes retail management and marketing services to organizations in the United States and Canada.

Dr. Bruce Schooling entered into his Ph.D. program at New Mexico State after serving as a senior pastor at three different Nazarene churches for a combined 18 years. After earning his Ph.D. in management in 1998, he started at PLNU as an assistant professor of management. He then served as the director of the M.B.A. Program from 2000 – 2004 before becoming dean of the School of Business in 2004. During his seven years as dean, Schooling focused his time on ensuring quality business education and played an important role in the FSB's reaffirmation of accreditation by ACBSP in 2010.

Dr. Randal Schober is a distinguished tenured professor of management at Point Loma Nazarene University in San Diego, lecturing in the discipline of International Business and overseeing the Entrepreneurship concentration at the Fermanian School of Business. In addition, Dr. Schober consults in corporate ideation and facilitates workshops assessing the sustainability of strategic business models. Dr. Schober has built and co-founded companies in both the for-profit and non-profit sectors.

Dr. Jamie Hess serves as the dean of the Fermanian School of Business at Point Loma Nazarene University, a role she assumed in 2023. A passionate educator and purpose-driven leader, she is committed to equipping students to lead lives of impact that are guided by the school’s motto, More Than the Bottom Line.

Dr. Frank Marshall joined PLNU as an adjunct faculty member in 2015 and as a full-time faculty member in 2017, teaching both graduate and undergraduate management courses. Dr. Marshall became associate dean of the Fermanian School of Business in 2020. In 2025, Dr. Marshall stepped down as dean and became an adjunct professor once again, allowing him to spend more time with his family. He came to PLNU with over 35 years of senior management experience. Marshall began his career as the controller for Hughes Aircraft Company Maquiladora, a defense contractor for the U.S. military.

Associate Dean, Dr. Kimberly Hogelucht, also serves as a professor of business at Point Loma Nazarene University, where she teaches business communication and directs business internships. Her expertise in helping college students develop the business and professional skills needed to secure employment and communicate effectively in the workplace has allowed her to serve a vital role in preparing her students for life beyond college. Kim holds a Ph.D. in Leadership Studies from the University of San Diego, M.A. in Speech Communication from San Diego State University, and B.A.

Carl Hammond came to PNLU in 2002 with 30 years of professional accounting experience. After serving in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War, he became a CPA for Price Waterhouse and served in the auditing, tax, and management advisory services departments from 1972 – 1979. He then served in various senior management and accounting roles for five public and private companies, including controller and treasurer for the Douglas Allred Company and vice president of finance for the Lomas Santa Fe Group.

Dr. Rob Gailey joined the Fermanian School of Business (FSB) as a professor of business in 2005. In addition to teaching in the undergraduate and graduate programs, he serves as the director of the Center for International Development (CID). Gailey’s experience and work has revolved around ways to engage the workplace and the church in helping address global poverty. He has served as an associate pastor, missionary, nonprofit leader, and educator around the areas of economic development, cross-cultural advocacy, and poverty alleviation.

Steve Cosentino has taught accounting full time at PLNU since 2004 and has been instrumental in helping to build the strong accounting program of the Fermanian School of Business (FSB). Prior to his academic career, he spent over 25 years in various management and accounting positions in the San Diego area. Cosentino began his career in public accounting at a local San Diego CPA firm, and he continues to consult professionally.
