Clinic History
In May 2000, under the leadership of Margaret Stevenson, R.N., Ed.D. and Dottie Crummy, R.N., Ph.D., and with the help of a grant from the Helene Fuld Health Trust, PLNU's School of Nursing established the Health Promotion Center (HPC). The HPC is located at the Church of the Nazarene in Mid-City and provides primary care services for individuals in the community with limited access to healthcare.
What We Do
The HPC is a nurse practitioner faculty/student-run clinic that serves clients primarily in the area of City Heights. As a faculty/student clinic, we train all levels of student nurses, BSN through DNP, and students from other healthcare sciences, to promote free, holistic, culturally sensitive care in an underserved urban setting. Our community partnerships allow us to offer specialty care that otherwise may not be accessible to our patient population.
