Military Scholarships

California Military Department GI Bill Award Program (CMD GI Bill)

State-funded program for active members in the California Army or Air National Guard, the State Military Reserve, or the Naval Militia.

Eligible students can learn more and apply through the CMD GI Bill Program

What it pays

  • Up to the current Cal Grant A amount
  • Undergraduate and Graduate students may apply

What to expect

  • Must remain an active member of the CMD branch
  • Must enroll in at least 3 academic units per term
  • Must maintain at least a 2.0 GPA annually

VA’s Health Professional Scholarship Program (HPSP)

HPSP awards scholarships to students receiving education/training in a health care services discipline. In exchange, you agree to serve in a VA health care facility.

What it pays

  • Full tuition and fees
  • Monthly living stipend
  • Annual book stipend

What to expect

  • Veteran status is not required (civilian applicants welcomed)
  • Must have a 3.0 cumulative GPA to be eligible
  • Must maintain full-time enrollment
  • Service obligation to work for the VHA for a minimum of 2 years
