Vehicle Jump Starts and Unlocks
Public Safety provides jump starts for motorists with a disabled battery and may be able to assist motorists who are locked out of a vehicle. Please call (619) 849-2525 to request a jump start or vehicle unlock. By making such a request, the requestor releases Public Safety and PLNU from liability for any and all damages that may result from the rendering of service. These services are only offered on the Point Loma, Liberty Station, and Mission Valley campuses.
Special Events and Parking Reservations
Public Safety is available to provide building unlocks, reserved parking, traffic control, and security for certain approved university events. Requests must be submitted online in advance.
CPR and First Aid Classes
The Department of Public Safety offers basic CPR and first aid certification classes to PLNU students, staff, and faculty four times a year. Classes are held on the second Saturday of September, November, January, and March and are limited to 18 participants. For more information, contact Public Safety Officer Jason Kuiper at jkuiper@pointloma.edu.
University ID Cards
The Solution Center, located on the third floor of Ryan Learning Center, is responsible for PLNU IDs. Visit this Knowledge Base article for more information on obtaining, replacing, or troubleshooting a PLNU ID.
Shuttle Services
All on- and off-campus shuttles are operated by Campus Facilities' Transportation Department.
Bicycle Registration
Public Safety strongly encourages students and employees to register their bicycles with reputable national online databases such as BikeIndex.org. Registration increases the likelihood of recovery if a bicycle is lost or stolen. You will need your bicycle’s serial number to complete registration.
To guard against theft, Public Safety recommends the use of a high-quality U-lock. These locks are generally far more secure than standard cable locks, which can be quickly and easily cut.
