Ron Benefiel, Ph.D. 

Ron Benefiel is dean of PLNU’s School of Theology and Christian Ministry. Benefiel previously served as president of Nazarene Theological Seminary for 11 years after an earlier stint as PLNU faculty member in theology.

David Cummings, Ph.D.

David Cummings is a professor of biology at PLNU. As an environmental microbiologist, his research focuses on the interactions between anthropogenic pollutants and native bacteria in natural water, soil, and sediment habitats. In particular, he has been studying the presence of antibiotic-resistance genes in the Tijuana River Estuary and other Southern California waters. His research has gained both local and national media attention.

Jamie Gates, Ph.D.

Jamie Gates is professor of cultural anthropology in the Department of Sociology and Social Work at PLNU and serves as the director of the university’s Center for Justice and Reconciliation.

Patricia Leslie, M.A.-S.S.A.

Patricia Leslie is the director of PLNU’s social work program and associate professor of sociology and social work. Leslie is highly involved in addressing homelessness in San Diego.

Lynn Reaser, Ph.D.

Lynn Reaser is chief economist for PLNU at the Fermanian Business & Economic Institute (FBEI). Reaser engages in economic analysis, modeling, and forecasting with practical and actionable recommendations for corporations, non-profit organizations, and government agencies for the FBEI.

Harry Watkins, Ph.D

Harry Watkins is professor of strategy and sustainability at Point Loma Nazarene University in the Fermanian School of Business (FSB). His current research and teaching focus on sustainability in general, and in particular, on sustainable business practices as a source of competitive advantage and on social/environmental restoration.
