Where are you from?

I was born in Mexico City, Mexico and then I moved to San Diego when I was only six years old. I completed my elementary, middle, and high school education in San Diego before moving to Orange County where I lived for ten years! While there, I attended Biola University to complete both my Bachelor's and Master's degree. I moved back to San Diego in 2016, and let me tell you, there's no place like it!

What were your favorite involvements in college and why?

When I was in college, I loved being involved in the life of the church! Being away from home sometimes was tough and so finding a family in the church community was wonderful. Not only did I make amazing friends but I also found ways to be an active part of the community and the world by participating in different service opportunities, locally and internationally.

What's a word or phrase that describes you?

"Love mercy, act justly and walk humbly" is the phrase that best describes me. I believe God has called us to live a life that is fruitful and exciting, but most importantly, a life that reflects His heart! Although living mercifully, justly and humbly is not always easy, I am convinced that when we do, it produces a life of integrity and love, which ultimately impacts others and changes the world!

What piece of advice would you give to someone who's choosing a college?

I would give advice on a couple of things:

  • Ask questions. Don't be afraid to ask people about college! Ask your teachers, friends or family about their college experience.
  • Get to know the college and its city. If you are able to visit college campuses, do it! Get out there and see what you like or don't like about different colleges as well as the city where the college is located. Many colleges offer 'Virtual Tours' so take advantage of that as well!
  • Trust God: Know that God is ultimately in control and truly wants the best for you! He will guide you so that you find the school that's the best fit for you and where you will grow intellectually, emotionally and spiritually!
