Where are you from?
I was born and raised in Sonoma County (a bit north of San Francisco) in a small town called Sebastopol. I love where I grew up and enjoy going back for a visit whenever I can. I've called San Diego home for 5+ years and always say I have the best two places to call "home" in California!
What did you study in college?
I earned a B.A. in Managerial and Organizational Communication from PLNU.
What was your favorite involvement in college and why?
I was a Resident Assistant my Junior and Senior year where I got to oversee and help create community for a hall of incoming freshmen girls! I LOVED it because that experience of moving into a completely new environment (and starting college in general!) was so exciting and overwhelming for myself as a new student, and it was such a joy and blessing to come alongside others to make that transition fun and successful.
What's one piece of advice you'd give to someone looking for their perfect college?
My best piece of advice would be to take your time and enjoy the process!! This is a huge decision, and yes, it can totally be stressful and overwhelming at times. However, you only go through this season once and it should be exciting (because IT IS!!). College is 4 foundational years that will launch you into your life afterwards, so try to see yourself actually being a student on the campuses you visit. Take it one step at a time, relax, and have fun on the journey!
Where's your favorite spot in San Diego for breakfast/brunch?
I 100% believe that San Diego has the BEST breakfast/brunch eateries in the state (possibly the country and maybe even the whole world). While there are TONS of delicious options, my all time fave is the OB Surf Lodge in Ocean Beach. (*Bonus: it's less than 10 minutes from campus!) In addition to the best french toast and omelettes you've ever had, the restaurant sits right across the street from the beach, so while you enjoy amazing food, you also get to enjoy an equally amazing view!
