Driftwood, PLNU's creative arts journal, has received the second place 2024 AWP Prize for Undergrad Lit Mags.

The 2023 edition (Volume 43) of the PLNU creative arts journal was selected to receive second place out of all the undergraduate literary magazines eligible in that academic year. The contest was sponsored by the Association of Writers & Writing Programs (AWP), and award recipients were selected by Erin Slaughter.

The official award announcement on the AWP website says the following:

"Congratulations to the winners of the 2024 AWP Prize for Undergrad Lit Mags, selected by Erin Slaughter! The below magazines were chosen out of a large selection of fantastic submissions; they showcase the exceptional talent of the undergraduate writers and editors who contributed."

Driftwood's faculty advisor, Dr. Katie Manning, emailed the news to the PLNU writing department on Monday, April 29, 2024 and shared a word of congratulations:

"Congrats especially to last year's editorial team: co-editors Emma McCoy and Shay Schmida, layout editor Anna Riedlinger, assistant editor Aliah Fabros, and all of the Driftwood staff! And thank you to all of the contributors, donors, judges, and readers who helped bring vol. 43 (and all of the other issues!) to life and who keep the creative arts thriving at PLNU."
