Dietary Accommodations

PLNU is committed to supporting the health and well-being of all students, including those with food allergies, intolerances, and medically necessary dietary restrictions. Our campus dining services are equipped to provide safe, nutritious, and satisfying meals that meet a wide range of dietary needs—including food allergies, Celiac disease, and other medical conditions.

To ensure students have access to appropriate dining options, our dining managers and chefs are trained and certified through the National Foundation for Celiac Awareness Great Kitchens© program to accommodate gluten-free and allergen-safe diets.

How to Request Dietary Accommodations

If you have dietary needs related to a documented medical condition, follow the steps below to initiate your accommodation request:

Step 1: Submit Your Accommodation Request and Documentation

We encourage students to take the lead in initiating accommodations—this is an important part of self-advocacy in the university setting.

To begin:

  • Navigate to the Accommodation Request registration form.
  • You’ll be asked a series of questions about your disability, how it impacts your daily life and academics, and the accommodations you’re requesting.
  • Upload Provider Documentation confirming your diagnosis, any specific food allergies/sensitivities, and identifying recommended dietary accommodations.

Step 2: Meet with PLNU’s Registered Dietitian

Once your Accommodation Request and documentation are submitted, an EAC Manager will reach out to provide you with information about scheduling your initial appointment to meet with our campus Registered Dietitian. This meeting will help tailor accommodations that support your health and dining experience on campus. Following this consultation, the EAC will review recommendations from PLNU’s registered dietician in combination with your medical documentation to make a determination in eligibility for dietary accommodations.

Step 3: Review Current Dining Policies

Please review our Meal Policy & Meal Plan Waiver Form for additional details on procedures and eligibility for meal plan modifications or exemptions.
