The Student Accounting Society (SAS) at PLNU exists to equip students with the resources, relationships, and real-world insights needed to thrive in the accounting profession. Through events, mentorship, and networking, SAS helps students explore career pathways and connect with industry leaders.
The club hosts BBQs, discussion panels, and professional development events with firm and industry professionals. Additionally, its annual Meet the Firms event allows you to network with top national, regional, and local firms to explore internships and job opportunities in public accounting.
Signature Events & Programs
Meet the Firms
Each fall, SAS hosts Meet the Firms, a premier recruiting event that brings together over a dozen national, regional, and local accounting firms and companies. Students gain valuable networking opportunities, learn about internships and job openings, and begin building connections that launch their careers.
Firm Presentations
Throughout the year, SAS features on-campus presentations from top firms such as Deloitte, EY, GPW, and Becker. These sessions provide students with direct exposure to the profession and insight into company cultures, internship programs, and full-time roles.
Underclassman BBQ
Held each November, this event is designed to introduce freshmen and sophomores to the accounting major in a relaxed, social setting. Students meet upperclassmen and faculty, helping them engage early in their academic and career journey.
Sophomore Recruiting Mentor Program
This spring program pairs sophomore students with junior and senior mentors who have completed internships. Mentors provide guidance on recruiting, resume development, and interview preparation, helping underclassmen succeed in a competitive hiring environment.
BUS 1000 Class Presentation
Each fall, the SAS Board visits BUS 1000 classes to share the wide range of career opportunities in accounting. These peer-led sessions aim to inspire and inform freshmen about the benefits of joining SAS and pursuing the accounting major.
Community & Social Events
SAS is more than career prep—it's a community. From holiday parties at professors’ homes to Padres games and ice skating outings, students come together throughout the year to build friendships and have fun.
