Applying for the Full Academic Year (Fall and Spring)

Expectations for Resident Assistants

  • Maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 2.75
  • Maintain full-time student status (12 units or more per semester)
  • Required hours per week:
    • Residential Hall RAs: 20 
    • Apartment RAs: 10  
  • Remain on campus overnight for three weekends per month
  • Other significant commitments must be limited to:
    • Residential Hall RAs: 10 hours per week or less
    • Apartment RAs: 20 hours per week or less

Restrictions

Only current PLNU students may apply. Incoming students will have the opportunity to apply after their first year.

Approval from academic advisor required for the following:

  • Junior & senior year nursing students (Sophomore year nursing students may not apply due to academic department restrictions) 
  • Student teachers
  • Athletic trainers
  • Athletes may apply to apartment positions ONLY (Flex and Colony). Athletes must get approval from their coach

Important RA Selection Dates

There will be two informational meetings to meet the Resident Directors (RDs) and hear about the positions:

  • RA Info Meeting #1: November 30th, 8 p.m.
  • RA Info Meeting #2: January 12th, 7 p.m.

You must be available for the following dates to participate in the RA application process:

  • January 15: RA Applications Due

  • January 25 – 27: Group Process Signups

  • January 31 – February 2: Group Interview Process

  • February 7 – 9: Individual Interview Sign-Ups

  • February 14 – 16: Individual Interviews

  • February 24: Final Notification Emails Sent

    • Stipend for RA's in a Hall Setting: $9,800 stipend 

    • Stipend for RA's in an Apartment Setting:  $4,900 stipend

  • Questions will not be the same for the 2023 - 2024 application, they are being revised but will be similar.

  2. How has your understanding of faith developed and/or changed and how has that influenced how you live out/embody your faith? If you feel that your faith has not changed, please explain what faith means to you and how you live out/embody your faith.
  3. Describe a relationship that you have/have had that has been instrumental to your growth as a person. How did this relationship support or challenge your growth?
  4. A lot of college is living in community and learning to engage with people who have different backgrounds, perspectives, ideologies and belief systems than you do. What has that looked like for you during your time here at Loma, and how do you think you would engage that as an RA.

  4. What does inclusion mean to you? How have you lived this out with your residents and as a leader on campus? How can Reslife be more inclusive in the future? 
  5. How have you grown this past year as an RA, and in what ways are you wanting to grow in this position next year?

RA selection begins in February and is completed by April for positions for both the full academic year positions and summer position. Application is due January 15th and the application is last year's questions.

Expectations for Resident Assistants

This summer we are hiring 10 Resident Assistants (8 for Young Hall and 2 for Colony Apartments).

The RA positions are both live-in positions (meaning that each RA will be provided housing in Young Hall or Colony Apartments during the extent of their contract). Each RA will oversee a floor of 25-50 residents for the summer program and have other responsibilities that will average 10 hours per week.

Summer RA Job Description


Prerequisites:

  • Must be a continuing PLNU student in Fall 2022
  • Must have at least a 2.75 cumulative GPA
  • Must not have more than 20 hours of additional work/class requirements during the summer

Resident Assistant Information:

  • Summer Hall: Young Hall and Colony Apartments
  • Hours/Week: 10
  • Summer Session is from May 9th to July 28th for Summer RA
