Engineering Clubs

Building a foundation for a future career in engineering requires both technical understanding and hands-on experiences to put that knowledge into practice. At PLNU, student clubs help you build community, apply your skills, collaborate with peers, and receive professional mentorship from experienced leaders in the field.

Engineering Leadership Society

The Engineering Leadership Society is a student-led organization designed to foster collaborative spaces, hands-on engineering skills, technical workshops, and professional mentorship. 

• As an engineering student in this club, you’ll plan and work on engineering projects. You can expect to work on a variety of hands-on projects using engineering software such as SolidWorks to design products and technologies. Past projects have included building a custom racing drone.
• The club will also provide networking and workshop opportunities to connect with local companies and the San Diego County Engineering Council.

3D Printing Club

The 3D Printing Club is a student-led club focused on working with 3D printers to create models and prototypes, as well as working with and maintaining the printers themselves. You’ll work on individual and collaborative projects, which can involve service work for PLNU’s mission projects or others in the community.

• You’ll learn to apply foundational engineering and computer science knowledge to build 3D designs and printing skills.
• As a part of the club, you can create individual and collaborative projects. All engineering students and members of the club will have access to the printing lab in the engineering department building, Rohr Science Hall. 

Society of Women Engineers

The Society of Women Engineers (SWE) student chapter supports women in engineering — surrounding you with a supportive campus community and providing you with professional development. SWE collegiate chapters connect members to mentors, offer career fair opportunities, and equip you with leadership training to help you succeed.

• Surrounded by a group of peers, you’ll build strong relationships and a community to help you advance in your career.
• With a variety of internal and external opportunities, you’ll gain access to mentorship and leadership training throughout your academic journey.

Cyber Security Club

The PLNU Cyber Security Club (PLNUCYSC) exists to provide you with a welcoming environment and safe outlet, so you can participate and learn more about cyber security, while also testing your skills and new ideas. While cyber security is a difficult area of computing to get into safely and legally, you’ll be supported every step of the way with a community of peers, led by a knowledgeable advisor. 

• The Cyber Security Club supports learning by providing you a safe space to put your skills and knowledge into hands-on projects and experiences.
• You can participate in a variety of competitions including hackathons and cyber security capture-the-flag contests.
