Bethany Mavis, B.A.

Adjunct Professor of Multimedia Journalism

Bethany Mavis is a graduate of the PLNU journalism department (class of 2009), and she's excited to pass on her knowledge and experience to future Christian journalists and writers as an adjunct professor. Since graduating, she's worked at Triathlete magazine—starting as an intern and working her way up to managing editor—and is now the managing editor of Women's Running magazine, which reaches about 40,000 subscribers and 800,000 online readers every month.

She's married to a Point Loma alum, whom she met on a LoveWorks trip to South Africa in 2006, and they have two daughters. She grew up in San Antonio, Texas (and will consider herself a Texan forever!), and both of her parents attended Point Loma, graduating in the 1970s. In her free time, she enjoys crafting, watching Disney princess movies with her girls, running, reading, trying new restaurants and traveling whenever possible (she just got up to her sixth continent in early 2018 with a trip to Israel!).
