Dana Sayre-Stanhope, EdD, PA-C Emeritus

Professor, Department Chair

After graduating from the University of Colorado’s Child health Associate/Physician Assistant Program, Dr. Dana Sayre-Stanhope joined the faculty of the University of Florida where she practiced pediatric surgery. She continued this practice in New York with a joint appointment at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons and City College of New York Harlem Hospital’ physician assistant program. She was recruited to Quinnipiac University where she founded their physician assistant program and subsequently founded the PA program at Samuel Merritt University. She also served as department chair and division chief for the PA programs at Saint Louis University and Emory University. Professor Sayre-Stanhope has held many leadership positions nationally and internationally serving as Chair of the Accreditation Review Commission for Physician Assistants, President of the Physician Assistant Education Association and is the founding President of the International Academy of Physician Associate Educators. Her areas of interest center on assessment and accreditation, medical education and professional competencies.
