2021 CJR Donations and Tax Benefits

Pink sunset with text saying, "Hope Rising"

We appreciate all of our donors and your generosity to help fund our various programs! We want to make sure you are all aware of some of the ways that this year’s CARES Act can benefit you as donors:

  1. If you are a taxpayer who does not itemize deductions, you may take a charitable deduction of $300 for single filers and $600 for married/joint filers.

  2. If you itemize your deductions, you can now deduct 100% of adjusted gross income (AGI) in charitable gifts during 2020 and 2021 as opposed to 60% in a normal year. Any giving beyond this 100% limitation may be carried over and used in the next five years.

  3. Individual Retirement Account (IRA) charitable contribution - If you would like to give through your IRA, this is the perfect time to do so.  Individuals who are more than 59½ years old are able to make a charitable deduction of up to 100 percent of your AGI for the tax year.

Please consult your tax advisor for specific tax information and how it applies to you.

We encourage you to take advantage of these benefits by donating to the Center for Justice & Reconciliation here. We will provide you with a receipt of your donation, which you can keep for your records.
