Aaron K. Spaulding

Aaron Spaulding became part of the PLNU team in early July 2023. He recently retired from the Navy, as a Combat Medical Corpsman, after 22 years. He most recently was working as a Cadaveric Simulation Technician, at Balboa Naval Hospital in their Cadaver Lab, assisting nurses and surgeons with surgeries, procedures and research.  Responsibilities for Spaulding include:

  • Assisting the Associate Professor of Anatomy with dissection of the cadaveric specimens and assisting with helping students identify anatomical structures.
  • Receiving and returning cadaveric specimens for the Anatomy Lab, corroborating directly with the Facilities General manager to ensure proper cleanliness of the Anatomy Lab, and also making certain the ultimate safety standards are being met according to OSHA 's guidelines and staying within the Formaldehyde Safety Awareness.
  • Ordering, allocating and receiving supplies for the Clinical Skills Lab and the Anatomy Lab.
  • Facilitate students in the Clinical Skills Lab by supervising their skills during practical application and also assisting the Professor with the appropriate Skills and the Rubrics.
  • Coordinate the OSCE Lab; communicate with Standardized Patients, set up the OSCE rooms, monitor live video of students and S.P.s.
  • Coordinate the operations of the SimCapture system to prepare, record and document all videos. Coordinate and control the Laerdal Simulation Mannequins for simulation Labs. Proctor Exams.

Outside of his career, Aaron Spaulding loves spending time with his family, is a very active member at his church, enjoys shooting at the range, lifting weights in the gym, and considers himself a foodie and always enjoys discovering new sandwich, pizza or taco spots.
