Chaz Celaya came to PLNU in 2018 to direct the new Commercial Music program and teach courses in music production, music industry, and pop music history. Since signing his first production agreement at age sixteen, Chaz has worked in a wide variety of roles in music production, industry, and education. His vast experience working in bands, recording studios, radio, live audio, event production, and touring has allowed him numerous opportunities to both perform and teach music around the world. His experience with the business side of music led him to law school where he is focusing on entertainment law and intellectual property rights. His passion is in guiding and educating artists and creators as they navigate a career path that is often bewildering. When not in a studio or classroom, Chaz enjoys exploring the beaches, concert venues, and sporting events of San Diego with his wife and three children.
