Choosing dialogue in the social media space

Social media is not a conversation. Scripture calls us to a different kind of response, one that values mutual respect, humility, and direct conversation. PLNU is, and will continue to be, a Christian university rooted in the authority of Scripture and the transforming power of Jesus Christ.

Many of our supporters have urged us to speak out on social media and respond to claims that have circulated in recent weeks, which have often been false or misleading, and sometimes anonymous. We understand that desire. The problem is that social media is not a conversation. It rewards conflict instead of understanding and often devolves into an “us versus them” battle. That is not who we are, and it’s not how PLNU chooses to engage.

Scripture calls us to a different kind of response, one that values mutual respect, humility, and direct conversation. We have engaged with those who have reached out, choosing dialogue over division. The conversations have not always been easy, but they have been fruitful and marked by honesty and a shared desire to seek understanding.

Our calling is not to win arguments on social media but to live out the truth of the Gospel with faithfulness and integrity. PLNU is, and will continue to be, a Christian university rooted in the authority of Scripture and the transforming power of Jesus Christ. Those convictions have not, and will not change.

We are deeply grateful for the outpouring of support and prayers. We continue to welcome members of our PLNU community to reach out directly with any questions or input. Genuine conversation leads to greater grace and wisdom rooted in Christ.
