Passing of Glen Laster

It is with profound sadness that we share the news of the sudden passing of our professor, colleague, and friend, Glen Laster. For more than 20 years, Glen has been a bright light in our community, forming meaningful relationships and influencing the lives of countless students, faculty, and staff.

Glen served our university in many capacities. He spent many years in Public Safety and taught students across our graduate, accelerated, and traditional undergraduate programs. He was also the founder and leader of our longstanding Southern Civil Rights Pilgrimage, an experience that has had a lasting impact on so many members of our community. Through each of these roles, and through the person Glen was, he made a remarkable difference in the lives of others.

We ask you to hold Glen’s family, friends, and the entire PLNU community in prayer during this difficult time.

This is a painful and unexpected loss, and we recognize that members of our community may experience a range of emotions as they process the news of Glen’s passing. Please know that you do not have to navigate this alone.

For students, support is available through our Campus Pastors; the Student Care office (studentcare@pointloma.edu, Phone: 619-849-2716); or the Counseling Center (counselingservices@pointloma.edu, Phone: 619-849-3020)

Please care for yourselves and one another during this difficult time. Grief touches each of us differently, so in the days ahead, may we extend grace, comfort, and support as we mourn this loss together.
