At PLNU, we have a living laboratory right in our backyard! Just minutes from campus, students and faculty have the opportunity to study Southern California's diverse marine ecosystems through hands-on research, field experiences, and collaborative projects that bring science to life.
This summer, PLNU's Marine Biology program observed the seasonal gathering of leopard sharks at La Jolla Shores. These gentle sharks return to the shallow coastal waters each summer, giving students a unique opportunity to study marine behavior, ecology, and conservation while experiencing one of San Diego's most remarkable natural events. Through experiences like these, PLNU biology students develop practical research skills while exploring the incredible ecosystems that surround them every day.
