Experience life at PLNU during Family Weekend 2022, October 7 - 8!

Join your student for a weekend filled with family-friendly events. Hear from Dr. Brower and a special guest speaker at the President’s Breakfast, join your student for chapel, enjoy a musical performance, and much, much more! Whether you live in San Diego or are traveling from afar, we encourage all PLNU families to attend this fun-filled weekend, experience your student’s home away from home, and enjoy time with other parents, grandparents, and families.

Registration Information

Event Pricing:

Adults – $25.00
Teens – $25.00
Children (4-12) – $10.00
PLNU Students – FREE, but MUST be registered for the President’s Breakfast on Saturday.

Online registration for Family Weekend 2022 is now closed.
Day of registration will be available at the Registration and Info booth on Friday, October 7 from 10:30 am - 1:00 pm and on Saturday, October 8 from 8:30 - 10:30 am.

Photographs: Photos taken at PLNU Family Weekend may also be used in various university publications or on the university website. Individuals who prefer that their photograph not be used, must inform the Office of Marketing and Creative Services of their request.

Add on Experiences and Passes: Off campus events including the Kayak the Bay excursion and San Diego Zoo and Safari Park passes may incur additional fees. Please see complete details for these opportunities below.

PLNU Main Campus and Liberty Station Conference Center
Join your student during one of their Friday classes - OR - sit in on one of our open courses! From lectures on health, sciences, theology and more to working music rehearsals, there are several open courses to choose from. Check out the full list of Open Courses by clicking here! *To sit in on your student's classes, please have your student request approval from their professor/s ahead of your arrival. Open courses are provided on a first come, first served basis, please check the list for capacity limits.

Family Chapel | 9:45 - 10:30 am

Join your student for a time of worship and hear from our special guest speaker as they share how their faith has been formed by creation and the stewardship of what God has entrusted to us.

Check-in with the Parent & Family Connection team to grab your Family Weekend welcome packet that includes your name badge and President’s Breakfast tickets (if attending).Your badge will grant you access to our featured events and provide a special discount at the Bookstore!

Loma Block Party! | 10:30 am - 1:00 pm
Campus Mall North
After grabbing your welcome packet, enjoy our Family Weekend Block Party! Have your family photo taken at our Loma Photobooth, enjoy some family-friendly activities, go on a scavenger hunt, win prizes, and grab some treats while getting to know some of our campus partners and student-led clubs and organizations.

Bookstore Open House | 10:00 am - 4:00 pm
Bookstore
Stop into the Bookstore to get all your PLNU swag, enjoy kid-friendly activities including games and coloring stations, and add a message or verse to our students on the “Wall of Encouragement”. Be sure to flash your Family Weekend name badge to get 20% off one item during your visit!

Jason Michael Lee Exhibit | 10:30 am - 4:00 pm
Keller Gallery
Tour PLNU’s Keller Gallery and see photographic work from Southern California artist, Jason Lee. Jason is American actor, comedian, filmmaker, singer, photographer, and former professional skateboarder. His exhibit will showcase recent photographs titled "Morning Walks". These series of prints document his morning ritual of walking through the neighborhood capturing moments as they find him.

Faithful Families Luncheon | 12:00 pm - 1:30 pm

A special luncheon to honor our PLNU Faithful Families. This event is by invitation only. Please contact Sarah Binsfield at 619-849-2512 or sarahbinsfield@pointloma.edu to RSVP.

Historical Walking Tours | 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Enjoy a historical walking tour of the campus as you learn more about the interesting origin of PLNU's campus and its first occupants. Guided tour led by PLNU friend, former PLNU parent, and local resident, Beth Zedaker.

LAD Trivia Night | 8:00 pm
Activities and Recreation Center (ARC)
Challenge accepted! Join Loma After Dark (LAD) for a fun night of trivia. Bring a team of 3-5 people to compete against other students and families and win Loma swag and other awesome prizes! We will have some snacks and host several rounds of trivia featuring topics like Loma, Disney, Family, and more.

Grab coffee and check-in with the Parent & Family Connection team to grab your Family Weekend welcome packet that includes your name badge and President’s Breakfast tickets (if attending).Your badge will grant you access to our featured events and provide a special discount at the Bookstore!

BREAKFAST IS CURRENTLY FULL! To be added to the waitlist, please click here.
Join us for a picnic style breakfast with President Brower as he shares key updates regarding the university. You’ll also get the opportunity to hear from a special guest speaker and musical guest. Tickets are complimentary, but required for all guests including PLNU students. Please be sure to register your entire party. Gates open at 8:30 am with programming beginning at 9:00 am.

Prayer Walk | Immediately following the President’s Breakfast
Greek Amphitheatre | North Entrance
Join other PLNU parents, families, and students on this guided prayer walk led by Jo Clemmons, PLNU Director of the Center for Teaching and Learning. As you make your way across campus there will be opportunities to pray over our students, faculty, staff and the university. Please meet at the north entrance to the Greek immediately following the conclusion of the President’s Breakfast.

Nease Garden Restoration Project | 11:00 am - 1:00 pm
Nease
In honor of our Creation Care Week, join PLNU Students for Environmental Awareness and Action for this special service project as we restore the Nease Garden. We will be painting, planting, and more to help bring our garden back to life! Everyone is welcome and no gardening skills are required. To join us, head over to Nease Hall then take the staircase on the left side of the building following the signs to our garden. Hope to see you there!

Pickleball | 11:00 am - 3:00 pm
Tennis Courts
Join the PLNU Pickleball Club for a fun pickup game anytime between 11:00 and 3:00 pm! Grab a partner and come enjoy this wildly popular game that incorporates tennis, badminton, and ping pong as you get to know other students and families. All skill levels are welcome to join as we will have courts dedicated to lessons, fun play, and competitive play. Appropriate footwear required — no black or dark soled shoes permitted on the court.

Kayak the Bay with Loma Outdoor | 12:00 pm, 2:00 pm, 4:00 pm or 6:00 pm - ADD ON EXPERIENCE!*
Grace Beach at Shelter Island - 2192 Shelter Island Drive
Take a short drive to Shelter Island and join Loma Outdoors for a fun adventure on the bay! Four excursions are available, launching at 12:00 pm, 2:00 pm, 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm. Rental fees apply. Limited availability.

PLNU Intramurals hosts Open Gym! Grab your family and friends and head down to the home of the Sea Lions for a pickup basketball or volleyball game. Appropriate footwear required.

Jazz Band Jam | 5:00 pm
Crill Performance Hall
Join us for this special Family Weekend performance as members of the Jazz Band ensemble offer an exhilarating time of funky fun! Admission is included with registration.

Movie Night in the Greek! | 7:00 pm

As part of Creation Care Week, Sustain PLNU and ASB are thrilled to host Family Movie Night featuring The Lorax! Grab a blanket, your family, friends, and dormmates and join us for a fun evening under the stars. We will be offering FREE BEN & JERRY’S ICE CREAM TO THE FIRST 100 PEOPLE!
