Lent Giving Campaign PLNU Against Child Sex Trafficking Image

The Christian season of Lent is a time to fast, pray, and give from what we have. Every year during this season, PLNU comes together to prayerfully give to our brothers and sisters around the world.

This year, our Lent Giving Campaign will support Shechem home, a residential assessment center for rescued children who are victims of OSEC (Online Sexual Exploitation of Children). This urgent humanitarian crisis is leaving children vulnerable to violence and abuse all around the world. We are sincerely grateful, as a university, to be in a position to continue to help in a tangible, compassionate way. PLNU has the privilege of partnering together with Nazarene Compassionate Ministries (NCM) and International Justice Mission (IJM) to provide support for children who have been affected by sex-trafficking. 

Our campaign is called PLNU Against Sex Trafficking. This opportunity is a response motivated by the love and example of Christ, to bring blessings to the children of Christ and our brothers and sisters around the world. And when we give, we do so as a campus, because we can do amazing things when we all come together as one. 

If you would like to donate, whether it is $5 or $500, you donate to support this therapeutic assessment center, you will help a child begin to heal from trauma, regain a sense of childhood, and experience hope for the future.

What is a Lent Giving Campaign?

Lent is the traditional Christian season of heart preparation and repentance, 40 days that immediately precede the Easter feast. This season is marked by fasting, by repentant prayer, and by giving alms to the poor. The practice of fasting gives us time to pray and remember our utter reliance on God. In prayer, God motivates giving. While many rightly give to charities for an acute need or disaster, PLNU gives annually through the work of the church to serve people who suffer the ongoing tragedy of extreme poverty. We remember that our money alone is ineffectual but that God can use tithes and offerings, in partnership with the local/global church, to change lives. In a society of individualism this is our collective offering to join with and bless sisters and brothers in need.
