Computer Science, minor

Computer Science, minor

Program Overview

Do you enjoy the challenge of solving problems and have a knack for using technology to help you solve them? If so, you should consider a minor in computer science. With a minor in computer science at PLNU, you’ll learn how computers work, from the underlying hardware to the use of high-level application programs.

You’ll take classes in programming and software engineering, as well as explore modern computer network technologies. This minor is not available to students who pursue a major in information systems.

A minor in computer science is great for those who wish to complement study in another discipline, such as mathematics, physics, or business. It can provide you with a broader perspective, and ultimately help you in your future studies and career. At PLNU, you can look forward to classes where you'll receive practical experience while working closely with other students and professors in a highly collaborative environment.

The Department of Mathematical, Information, and Computer Sciences (MICS) is dedicated to helping you discover your calling and how your academic abilities connect with that call. MICS is committed to maintaining a curriculum that provides you with the tools to be productive, the passion to continue learning, and Christian perspectives that provide a basis for making sound professional decisions.

The Valiant Work of Cybersecurity
Synced Summary
Our traditional image of a superhero isn’t a duck-wielding computer science professor in glasses and a button-down shirt. But, as it turns out, that kind of hero might be exactly what we need — and not just as a clever alter ego.   Not everyone thinks of cybersecurity professionals as superheroes, but what drew PLNU’s

Teaching Machines to Learn
Synced Summary
Not only was she pushing herself outside of her comfort zone exploring this new field, Dotter was also getting to ask questions of purpose and meaning, questions at the intersection of both computer science and biology. How can we teach a computer to learn the way we do? While many people have wondered that very
