Overview

This standalone course will give you in-depth learning around the anatomy of the human nervous system and its neuroanatomical structures and function, from the cellular level to organ system level. This class is fully online and asynchronous so you can learn on your own schedule!

In this course, you’ll dive into the functionality of sensory, motor, limbic, cognitive, visual, vestibular and ventricle systems and how they relate to the nervous system. Cases and lab experiences will help you reinforce your understanding of key concepts and neurological conditions — especially those most relevant to occupational therapists and similar professions.

You’ll be able to study neuroanatomy using cutting-edge online technology and virtual dissections.

How is the course delivered?

The course is delivered fully online and asynchronously with the opportunity to meet with instructors via Zoom. Students use cutting-edge technology to learn about the human body using the Visible Body-Courseware platform.

Who teaches this course?

Joy Y. Balta, MSc, MATLHE, PhD

Dr. Joy Balta

This course is taught by Dr. Joy Balta who is the Director of the Anatomy Learning Institute. Dr. Balta completed his doctorate in anatomy and has been teaching in different medical schools nationally and internationally and most recently at The Ohio State University. Dr. Balta currently teaches in the physician assistant and occupational therapy programs here at PLNU and in the Doctor of Medicine program at UCSD.
