Dr. Colin Bowles has been Lead Physical Therapist at Richard J. Donovan State Prison in San Diego, CA for the past five years. Being able to serve the often overlooked, incarcerated population and advocate for their rehabilitative needs in mind, body, and spirit is very rewarding and brings purpose to each day.

Jessica Walton is a CalWORKs Counselor at San Diego Continuing Education. She serves mostly refugee students from Haiti. Jessica is a first-generation American and college graduate. She earned her Bachelor’s (Communications) and Master’s (Educational Counseling) degrees from PLNU.

Distinguished Achievement Award

2024 Distinguished Achievement Awardees

This is the highest award presented by the Alumni Association on behalf of Point Loma Nazarene University. This award is given in recognition of significant and outstanding lifetime accomplishments in a profession, academically, or in service to nonprofit organizations, a strong Christian testimony, and an impact on people’s lives.

Dr. Harold Raser (68)

Harold is an ordained minister in the Church of the Nazarene and a noted Church historian. He authored More Preachers, Better Preachers, the official history of the seminary. Harold served as Professor of the History of Christianity for more than 35 years at NTS with primary responsibility in American Christianity. Known as a champion of women in ministry and of women’s rights in general. Regular member of the orchestra, playing his bass electric guitar every Sunday, being a regular member of the orchestra, serving on the church board and teaching Sunday School as it was needed.

Daryl (68) and Vicki (71) Nicholson

The Nicholsons are known for their faith, involvement, and generosity. They have been big supporters of PLNU in athletics and philanthropy over the past 50 years. Because of their generous contributions to the capital campaign, Nicholson Commons was opened in November of 1997. They are known for traveling to PLNU games, tournaments and championships to support the athletes.
