Denise D. Nelson, Ph.D.

Dr. Denise Nelson has been a member of PLNU's Ryan Library faculty since 2004 and a member of the department since 1999. In addition to her responsibilities leading the library, she provides support at the Research Help Desk and teaches information literacy and research strategies for various courses. She serves as the library's liaison to Psychology and Communication Studies.

Robin Lang, M.L.I.S.

Professor Lang has been a member of Point Loma Nazarene University’s Ryan Library faculty since 2016. Prior she worked as Outreach and Public Services Librarian at Westmont College and as faculty at Santa Barbara City College and Cuyamaca College. Professor Lang teaches information literacy and research practices and is the library’s liaison to: History and Political Science; Art and Graphic Design; Biology; and Sociology, Social Work, and Family Sciences. Her scholarly interests include diversity, equity and inclusion as represented in library collections.

Student Project on ESPN 3 TV

On Saturday, January 13, a student-produced commercial for Point Loma Nazarene University’s Athletic Department will air on ESPN3 during the women’s and men’s basketball game against Hawaii Pacific University.

Hung "Jay" Vu, M.D.

Born in Vietnam; raised in San Diego, CA, Dr. Vu is no stranger to academics or medicine. After earning his B.S. in Animal Physiology and Neuroscience at USCD, he spent 2 years in the field as a first responder EMT with AMR. He earned a Medical Doctorate degree from University of Vermont College of Medicine and was named to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. He completed his Emergency Medicine Residency at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN.

Amy Vu, DMSc, PA-C

Dr. Vu is a PLNU alumnus and an experienced healthcare professional with over 15 years of clinical, academic, and leadership experience. She is specialty boarded in Emergency Medicine, but has also worked in Family Medicine and Urgent Care settings. In addition, Dr. Vu has a strong background and love for orthopedics stemming from many years serving as Head Athletic Trainer at Santa Fe Christian Schools, prior to entering her Masters Program. She has been involved in education and healthcare delivery at both private practices, large community hospitals, as well as academic institutions.

Wendy says she was failing her statistics class during her senior year, when Dr. Greg Crow suggested a tutor might give her a chance at passing. Ryan stepped in and helped her pass statistics, and a year later they were married.
